CST originated in the early 1900s with William Sutherland, an osteopath who discovered the movement of cranial bones and developed techniques to release restrictions in the craniosacral system. In the 1970s, Dr. John Upledger further advanced Sutherland’s work, conducting research to validate the therapy’s principles and creating widely used CST techniques.
